These are our newest projects at our volunteering program in Siem Reap, Cambodia :
Cambodian Child Organization
An organisation encouraging youth to volunteer as English teachers for children unable to afford to go to school. Volunteers support the teachers as they have very little experience and skills in the English language. There are also classes where children and monks are taught, two are at Wat Preah Dak, a serene temple environment where about 30 monks live. The ages of the monks are usually from 14 to 26 years of age.
Volunteers with any level of English teaching skills are most welcome. Games, lessons, songs and conversation are all appreciated.
This project is at Preah Dak, inside the temple area complex, 25 minutes by tuktuk from the town. WLS will arrange a translator/driver who can help in the class. The class times are 4-7pm.
Orphans & Disabled Arts Association
A vocational training project, teaching disabled and orphaned children to paint, repair bicycles, wood and stone carving, etc. They also learn to speak English.
Art teachers are most welcome to share their experience and skills, as well as teachers of any level of English teaching experience.
Situated near Sra Srang, the King’s swimming pool, set in the temple area complex a thirty minute tuktuk or moto ride from the town.
WLS will arrange a translator/driver who can help in the class.
Poor Children Support Organization
An orphange with approxiamately 30 children from age 5-15 years learning English and Japanese as well as traditional Khmer music.
They have just relocated and need a lot help setting up their gardens, building fences, etc.
The project is set in a beautiful rural area twenty minute by tuktuk from the town. There are two hour sessions for English class in the morning and in the afternoon.
The volunteer program in The Philippines is based in Metro Manila and the nearby cities. After the airport pickup in Manila volunteers are provided with an orientation that will familiarize them with the city and the surrounding area, the Philippine culture and receive an orientation on their volunteer program.
To make volunteers feel welcome, a traditional Philippine dinner will be prepared especially for volunteers the first evening. During the first orientation week, volunteers will collaborate with the social workers & orphanage staff to become familiar with the program & the children.
The accommodation is a home stay with a local family or a shared room in a dormitory during your stay in the Philippines. This is a great opportunity for participants to learn about Philippine culture and family life. Participants can expect pleasant yet modest accommodations. Traditional Philippine food is served twice a day, in the morning and the evening.
